RollingCubes


Try to solve the rolling cubes puzzle! You start with eight cubes around a center hole. Each cube is black on the top and white on the bottom. The object is to roll the cubes around until the cubes are in the start position but with the white faces on top. Click on a cube to roll it.

It is possible to win in 36 moves. Good luck! Solving the puzzle is harder than it looks. The solution is here if you need it.

This game was invented by John Harris and described in the Mathematical Games column of the March 1975 Scientific American. Check out Volutare, a related shareware game for the PC.
